At Domaine Asmara, we are known for our small range of premium red and white wines. We're not a huge winery. In fact, we’re pretty small. We don't spend a fortune on marketing. In fact, we spend hardly anything. We don't have a heap of fancy equipment or a big staff, there is only a few of us doing all the work. But the one thing we don't compromise on is our wine.
Everything we do is dedicated to producing exceptional wines. We spend our days tending our vines by hand. There's no machine intervention here (except for a pair of secateurs if you can call that a machine).
The only thing that intervenes is Mother Nature and you could say our wine is bio-dynamic. We like to say, let Mother Nature do its work on simply great vines.

Barfold Estate is a small, family owned vineyard and winery located in the SW corner of the Heathcote region. Our philosophy in making elegant, powerful and complex red wines is simple: estate grown, small berried fruit from low yielding vines, small-batch open fermented, natural yeasts, hand plunged, basket-pressed, carefully selected oak, gentle hand-crafted management and minimal intervention.
Small family owned operation started in 1986 in Lancefield, Macedon Ranges, before moving to Burke & Wills in 2004. Listed in the 2012 James Halliday Wine Companion as one of the 'Ten Dark Horses' of the Australian Wine Industry.
Coliban Valley wines are all estate grown, produced and bottled from our low yielding, unirrigated Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot & Riesling resulting in intense yet elegant red wines and crisp, dry chilled wines. Sparkling Rosé and still Rosé are made from Cabernet & Shiraz grapes. All wines are vegan as no animal products are used.
The vineyard was established at Mia Mia in the southern part of the Heathcote Wine Region of Central Victoria in 1999, and in 2002 bore the first fruits of labour for the Baumgartner family(Norbert, Pam Nick & Chris).
The vines are low yielding and combined with a unique meso-climate produce rich intense and somewhat complex wines. Traditional methods are employed with wines made in small batch open fermenters and basket pressed. The wines are then matured in American & French Oak Barriques for a minimum of 18 months. Organic practices are used as much as possible in the vineyards although MVE is not certififed.
The Cellar Door is open daily and all are welcome to sample the delicious and tantalising wines and meet the winemakers who are passionate about their wines.
Small groups can be catered for with tutored tastings and other light refreshments, bookings in advance are required.
